Dealing with error messages

Error messages are displayed when an action cannot be completed because of missing or invalid information. If you receive an error message, locate it in this list to help determine the best course of action.

This is shown if you failed to choose a file in the file browser when creating a new picture element or setting the background image. Make sure you select a valid file.

Not a valid picture file

This is shown if the file you chose in the file browser isn't a valid picture file format when creating a new picture element or setting the background image. The image file must be one of the following:

JPEG file, with the extension '.jpg' or '.jpeg'
GIF file, with the extension '.gif'

URL cannot have spaces

This is shown if you entered a URL with one or more spaces in the URL field when creating or editing a link. URLs cannot contain spaces.

Invalid vertical space

This is shown if you failed to enter a positive number for the size field when creating or editing a vertical space. A positive number is '8' yet not '8th' (no quotes).

Disk quota exceeded

If you receive this message then you have run out of hard drive space for your memorial. You will not be able to create or edit elements until you have deleted one or more elements that are already part of your memorial.

Picture elements can take up a lot of hard drive space. It's wise to first reduce the size of the picture file by scaling its width and height with a graphic file editor program on your PC before adding it to your memorial. This is especially important if the picture file was made with a scanner, since most scanners can create picture files that are thousands of pixels wide. It is recommended that any picture you use in your web page be no larger than 600 pixels wide and 500 pixels high.
