Johann C. Bakker, 92, of Tafton, journeyed home on March 15, 2007, after a brief illness. He is currently survived by his wife, Margaret.
Johann was one of nine children whose parents, Marie Wissikerke and Aris Bakker, came to America from the Netherlands in the early 1900s. Johann came to Lake Wallenpaupack in 1955, forging out a marine business which lasted until he retired in 1981. Previously, he started an apprenticeship employment in 1931 in Wright Aeronatical Corp., sponsored by the War Department at that time. He also worked on war materials at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. In addition, he worked at Walter Kiddy Corp., and obtained a college equivalancy degree in 2000 in clinical psychology.
Also surviving are three sons, Danny, Nicholas and David; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
