Ashley Down & Neroli Bourke, London August 2002 This is my beautiful Ashley. This is a photograph taken of us when we lived in London, just 6 months before he died. We returned home to Australia to begin the next stage of our lives together but our world was shattered when four months after our return Ashley had a massive heart attack and could not be revived. He was only 30 years old. His mother, Robyn, father Ron, brother Brad, sister Melissa and sister-in-law Amy miss him every day. He was passionate, creative, fiercely intelligent, funny, warm and wonderful. He was my mentor, my confidant, my best friend, the center of everything I did. I wanted to share him with you as he gave me so much. My life has been changed forever just by loving and being loved by him. I wish that everyone could be as lucky as I am. A wise person once asked me "if nothing bad ever happend, how would we know when we had it good?". If you are hurting from the loss of someone you loved make sure you reach out to those around you. Don't be afraid - that's what they are there for. And remember You have had the extraordinary opportunity to let someone wonderful touch your life. That makes you worthy of future happiness so don't deny yourself this. That is the best way of honouring the one you have lost.
