Sunday July 16, 2006, marked the closing of a remarkable chapter in the history of education in Pakistan. May Flanagan, an extraordinary teacher and inspiration to thousands of students at St. Mary's Academy, Burn Hall, and the Murree Convent, passed away at St. Joseph's hospice in Rawalpindi, Pakistan at the age of 82.
Ms Flanagan taught us much more than the subjects we took in her class - English and geography in my case - She also had a deep impact on the development of our character. For this, she will never be forgotten.
May God rest her soul in heaven, and grant us all the courage to live as she did, in truth and with dignity.
