Buchan, Alison (1968 - 2005)

My sister Alison was 37 years of age when she was found dead at the family home. Alison had psychological problems as a child and grew up a person with a face for every occasion. She had a real problem with alcohol all her life, but more so when her marraige broke down after only 15 months. She was very much of a mummy and daddy's girl, even after our parents divorced. After coming home from America she hit the bottle badly and no amount of help was enough to make Alison sit up and take notice of what she was doing. She divided our family and our mother was completely under her thumb, being housebound and unable to defend herself. But when we were called to help it always ended up with mum taking Alison's side and everyone else were the bad ones. Our mum is now in a nursing home doped up to the eyes on morphine. I know that my sister attacked her on many occassions. My brother Peter found Alison with her face pressed into a cushion after a 3 litre vodka session. She left a suicide note. Alison, I really hope that your tortured soul has found the peace and happiness that it couldn't find in life, in death. You left behind brothers Peter, Robert & Scott, nieces Rachel, Chari, Vicki, Megan & Tammi, nephews David & Alistair and great nephew Alex. I very much regret the fact that you took the cowards way out. Why, oh why did you do it. Your big sister Elizabeth.
