June Linscomb, 78, of Brookeland, Texas died Monday, December 5, 2005 in a local hospital. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home. Private services will be held at a later date. Mrs. Linscomb was born June 22, 1927 in Beaumont, Texas, to the late Katherine Holmes. Formerly of Lake Jackson, she had resided in Brookeland for the past 25 years. Mrs. Linscomb was a retired school teacher having been employed by the Brazosport Independent School District. She was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Pete DeViney of Brookeland; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Deborah Linscomb of Magnolia, Texas and Larry and Kathy Linscomb of Austin; 4 grandchildren and spouses, Amber and Todd Anthony, Amanda Kaye Linscomb, Bryan and Kari Linscomb, and Christopher Linscomb; 1 great granddaughter, Skylar Linscomb; sisters, Peggy Smith of Galveston and Jerri McCoy of Beaumont. Mrs. Linscomb was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John C. "Bud" Linscomb. Memorials may be made to Jasper Lakes Area Humane Society, P. O. Box 1104, Jasper, Texas 75951.
