Jo, Jojo, that's the way we used to call him, from Jovan Putra Setiarman, the name that we gave him when he was born on Monday, February 12th, 2001, 09.40 am, at Pondok Indah Hospital, Jakarta. Jo weighed 4.1 kg, measured 50 cm long, and Jo was a cute and healthy baby. At that time, we lived at Jl. AA, Kebayoran Lama. Jo grew up normally just like other healthy kids. On August 18th, 2002, Jo was baptized Eduardus as a Catholic and became a follower of Christ. Around mid 2003, Jo began his study and social life at Lady Bird Nursery, and by mid 2004, Jo studied at Bina Bangsa School Kindergarten. Since February 2005, we moved to Puri Indah, our home now. Jo really liked his new bedroom, the neighborhood and Jo also took a piano lesson. Jo was very observant; thoughtful, and didn't talk much. Jo cared a lot about his family & relatives, however. And Jo loved to play with his elder cousins. Jo was a moody boy, but Jo never liked to fight. People and friends liked him. Jo had a way to get what he wanted; people and friends were heedful of him. "I wish I had a lot of friends", Jo said truthfully on his last birthday. A simple wish, reflecting how Jo viewed friendship and love. Jo loved us more than we did him; Jo simply loved us for no reason other than that we were his parents. On June 16th-23rd 2006, we went to Hong Kong Disneyland. We all had a great time. It never occurred to us that it would be the last trip for the whole family, the last trip for us with Jo. On October 7th, 2006, Jo caught influenza and we took him to the doctor. The doctor prescribed Sanprima (sulphamethoxazole, co-trimoxazole) for Jo. Unfortunately, that triggered extreme allergic reaction known as Steven Johnson Syndrome, complicated by: severe bilateral conjunctivitis, severe stomatitis and mucositis, mild genital ulceration, presumed enterocolitis resulting in lower gastrointestinal tract bleeding. Acute Papillary necrosis resulting in gross haematuria, complicated by: bilateral hydronephrosis and hydroureter due to clot obstruction, renal colic. Bronchiolitis Obliterans complicated by: pneumomediastinum and extensive subcutaneous emphysema. Hypertension likely due prolonged steroid use. On October 13th, 2006, Jo was hospitalized in Siloam Graha Medica. On October 18th, 2006, with SOS International, Jo was sent to Singapore and hospitalized in NUH (National University Hospital). After more than one month, his condition got better and we returned home on December 6th, 2006, while Jo got continuous medical treatment, including oxygen therapies. Jo's condition was unstable, however. Again, Jo had to be hospitalized in Siloam Graha Medica from December 21st, 2006, up to December 24th, 2006. Within one month, again, Jo had to be hospitalized in Siloam Graha Medica on January 26th, 2007. Jo celebrated his last birthday on February 12th, 2007...in the hospital. Jo was discharged on February 16th, 2007,and celebrated his last Chinese New Year at home on February 18th, 2007. After all, that Jo had been through and done, apparently God The Almighty showed His own will. Reality does make us wonder sometimes. On Monday, February 19th, 2007, at 08.15 pm, Jo passed away in the Emergency Room, Siloam Graha Medica. Life was too short for Jo; nevertheless, it is Jo's legacy that is kept alive: his love and memories.
