Jonathan 8-03-03 |
Jonathan came into our lives on June 27, 2003. We were all so excited to meet this very special baby. He came into this world weighing 7 pounds 2 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches tall. He had the most beautiful color of hair, it was the color of a gorgeous sunset, a perfect color of yellow gold and red. He had to spend some time in the nicu, and after 6 hard days, he was able to come home on July 3, his Aunt Diana's birthday! We had a wonderful July 4th celebration. The next 6 weeks proved to be a challenge, as we were getting used to being a family of 6. Oh, he was such a wonderful baby, but was very spoiled--thanks to the nicu nurses! Daddy had to go and buy us a rocking chair! He loved to be rocked and snuggled tightly, and no one could do it as good as Mommy! He was definately a Mommy's boy! On August 14 2003, one day before he would turn 7 weeks, his Great Grandmother, Leola Clardy passed, and so we spent a day getting prepared for her funeral. But, nothing could have prepared us for August 15. That morning, Jonathan woke about 5:00am to eat, and afterwards he whined himself back to sleep. About 7:30am, I had this terrible feeling, and when I went to check on him, He had a small amount of blood at his nose, and was already changing colors. As we waited for the ambulance to arrive, which felt like hours, Paul did cpr. But it was too late. After a horrific ride to the ER, Jonathan was pronounced dead at 9:00am. And with that, our Son was gone.
He still remains apart of our everyday lives. Not a minute goes by that I don't think of him. His age, what he would be doing, what he should be doing.
Jonathan wasn't murdered or accidentally killed, he had a silent killer called Klebsiella Pneumoniae. A natural bacteria that lives in all of us but got into his bloodstream and caused him to become septic.
