Isken, Jennifer Michelle (1980 - 1994)

Jennifer "Jenny" Michelle Isken

February 20 1980 - April 16 1994

I would like to submitt a memorial in our daughter's name. She was born 2/20/1980, she loved our family, friends, & neighbors. She also loved the beach. she was born in Orlando, Fl., & she had wondrful life, till the big word CANCER, came along. She was diagnosed, after 6 months of taking her to the doctor, everyday. Finally, on the first week of Jan. 1991, she was admitted to the hospital. They had to emergency surgery on her, after she began screaming & they could not relieve the pain by IV's. They took a car scan, & told us what we needed to do, now!!

After 8 hours of surgery, & the tumor was sent in 6 directions, she was diagnosed with a pediatric brain timor called " Medulla Blastoma ". After Radiation treatments, chemo treatments, total 3 brain surgeries ( top of head to lower neck ), clinical treatments, & 3 cancer centers / including DUKE, she still made A's. While we were traveling, I got 2 doctors & 2 non-profits, & bonemarrow units to Orlando, Fl.. When she passed away, on April 16, 1994, the non-profits changed the PR & the kids w/ her type of cancer, don't have a supprt group here, not even w/ local & nat.'l American Cancer Society. I got my full credit. I'm trying to start up the Pediatric Brain Tumor Society, in her memory & ( & as the bonemarrow director, one of the doctors , that moved here, wrote " For all the Jennifer Isken's of the World " .

I hope no one ever has to go thru that, & try to save their marriage, too. It's another one of the hardest things to have to go thru, but we have.

Please, LOVE your kids, they grow up so fast. She was our only child, cause I couldn't, cause of IUD problems in the past, & spend qaulity time, too!!!

It's not in the Family history, & the researchers have tried , since the 1930's, they still don't know what causes it. It's in every state & country & there kids, as young as 6 months old being diagnosed with it. Symptoms were mild sinus headaches & stomach flu, that led to her loosing weight.

Yours Truly,

Donna & Gary Isken
